It is said that if you are not healing your wounds, you are harming them.
Host of the Emerge Book Circle, Theresa Destrebecq, explains how she was surviving a mindset of anger and resentment in a career she thought would be her whole life. Having started her career as a teacher, she then became a school administrator where her past manifested in her present. Old wounds were getting salt thrown in them as Theresa persisted miserably for two years before finally calling it quits on her teaching career.
Even though she was doing all the meditating, journaling, and therapy available, it was her life coach that finally called her on her subconscious bs that was sabotaging her growth and success. It was only after finding life coaching did things really begin to turn around for Theresa. After plugging into support, Theresa began creating her life instead of reacting to it.
In that time, she became a life coach and started the Emerge Book Circle which helps hundreds of like-minded woman around the world come together to read AND apply the lessons of personal and professional development books. This is a Hearts Unleashed Podcast Friday Fill Up to unleash you from the grip of depression and our guest, Tracey Maxfield, does an amazing job of explaining exactly how to do that. Tracey is a nurse with over 37 years’ experience.
Tracey experienced her first episode of clinical depression in her twenties and lived with chronic depression ever since. However, nothing prepared her for the acute depressive episode she experienced in 2015. After enduring years of intense work place stress, harassment and bullying, she plummeted into an abyss of darkness, hopelessness and despair the likes of which she had never experienced before.
Encouraged by a psychologist, Tracey started a Blog, Escaping the Rabbit Hole: my life with depression, to better help her friends understand her depression. Over time, Tracey began to heal and found that out of the darkness and despair, there is hope, there is life after depression.
Since the release of her book, Escaping the Rabbit Hole: my journey through depression, Tracey has become a staunch advocate for Mental Illness and Mental Health Awareness and Bullying and completed the course, Bringing Mental Health to Schools. She has met with children, teenagers and young adults to talk about bullying and mental illness.
Her philosophy is to Engage children and teenagers, to Educate them about mental illness and bullying and to Empower them to develop confidence and skills to continue to move ahead in their own life journey. In September/October, in recognition of Suicide Prevention week and National Bullying Prevention month, Tracey will be travelling to Kansas, Ohio and Toronto, Canada for media appearances and speaking engagements.
Born in Wales, U.K. Tracey moved to Canada in 1987. She currently spends her time between the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada and Wichita, Kansas. Escaping the Rabbit Hole: my journey through depression is her first book and has received international rave reviews. Connect with Tracy at https://traceymaxfield.com/tracey-maxfield/
I wanted to spend 15 Min explaining what I like to call Sitting Duck Syndrome.
In this convo, I sway between both sides of the spectrum of feeling stuck and settling.
We love our comforts and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
It is incredibly natural for us to nest and establish structure.
However, the only thing that is constant in life is change.
Evolution is inevitable and so I wanted to riff on my experience on the topic. In this episode, I share one of the most consistent lessons I have learned; life is not about what happens, it is about how you react to it.
It is time for you to take responsibility for your actions and reactions so that you can shift from dreaming to doing.
This Friday Fill Up episode is to help you get moving so you can create momentum and reach mastery.

I realized something in my work with this 15 Min Fill Up that I haven't thought about since I first became a coach.
In my work, we were specifically trained to maintain certain boundaries as coach.
This meant leaving our past, beliefs, opinions, and advice out of a coaching session.
I remember distinguishing the difference between friend, coach, and teammate in the program I was going through.
When we would 'coach' each other, we weren't always coming from professional coach.
Sometimes we would slip into our own need to please of save and begin coaching with a bias.
We would relate to each other with love and emotional investment and begin 'telling' or 'nudging' instead of trusting, knowing, and coaching.
Our own humanness clouded our coaching judgements and we were invited to restore our clarity and become coach again.
WELP! I feel like am breaking all the coaching rules in this 15 Min Fill Up by just being a downright good friend.
I really love being a coach and truly, I am emotionally invested in your happiness. Sometimes, this causes me to get a bit opinionated about the ways that you block your own abundance and joy!
So, I am dishing out all sorts of advice in this episode! I am skipping the part where I have you consider what is possible when you raise your vibration and I am just telling you!
This episode has a bit a big sister or convo on the couch type of feel as I invite you to leave old relationships, get serious about who YOU are, and attract new into your life to be living at your highest and best!
So today, I am as much friend, sister, cousin, colleague, as I am coach.
I know you have been craving emotional relief and that is why I have been recording the Emotional Intelligence Series to empower you in your next up level.
Happy Evolving my friend. You deserve it.
YOUR GUIDE TO REALIZE, NORMALIZE,
& ACTUALIZE YOUR SOUL'S PURPOSE
8 Pillars of Empowerment Series: Day 1 Awakening
This episodes Pillar, Awakening is all about you waking up to your soul's purpose and journey. This first Pillar is essential in the beginning of your conscious life and ascension above the 3D reality. This Pillar is first because operating in a sleep state, or survival state, will keep you looping in old, undesired patterns for the entirety of your life. A time of collective consciousness is upon us for all of humanity. Now is the best time to step into the flow of empowerment and ride the wave of consciousness streaming through the population of the planet.
8 Pillars of Empowerment Series: Day 2 Awareness
This episodes Pillar, Awareness is about practicing life in a conscious state. The focus of this Pillar is to open your eyes, mind, and heart to every single part of you. Seeing the FULLEST version of you, Grant's you access to BEING the fullest version of you.
8 Pillars of Empowerment Series: Day 3 Acknowledgement
This episodes Pillar, Acknowledgment, is about actually acknowledging your new awareness! We so often try to avoid or resist our feelings, fears, and potential because it feels like uncertain territory. Something to acknowledge to dismantle the mystery of the unknown is to admit that WE are the ones who say so. The unknown is not "scary." It is simply unknown. Walking into a dark room that turns into all of your friends at your surprise birthday party is not scary....but it is unknown! EVERYTHING is unknown until you know it! This Pillar will walk you through acknowledging the elephants in your life that you normally avoid. You acknowledging your fears, faith, frustrations, fantasies, and more shall set you FREE!
8 Pillars of Empowerment Series: Day 4 Acceptance
This episodes Pillar, Acceptance is fourth on the list of Pillars because after Awakening, becoming Aware, and Acknowledging your greatness you MUST Accept it! In order to live a fully and consistently empowered life, you must accept how great you are on every level. We resist our brilliance for many reasons but mostly because life has made us believe that it is "good" and "right" to stay humble and/or small. Have you ever caught yourself dimming your light for others? Have you ever realized that you 'tone it down' for fear of being too much? With this Pillar, you will learn the beautiful gift of full self acceptance and celebration. It's time for you to live UNLEASHED!
8 Pillars of Empowerment Series: Day 5 Application
This episodes Pillar, Application shifts the focus of the Pillars from intrinsic to extrinsic. I repeat it early and often: that which you know does not serve you. You can garner all of the knowledge in the world. Without the wisdom apply all that information, none of it will matter or make a difference. NOT applying know awareness keeps you where you are in life. "A mistake made, is a lesson learned. A mistake repeated, is in fact a mistake." In order to live an empowered life, you must apply your knowledge to your life.
8 Pillars of Empowerment Series: Day 6 Accountability
This episodes Pillar, Accountability is ALL about putting your money where your mouth is! This Pillar is about being willing to invest in yourself and be held to a higher level of being and acting. Strengthening this Pillar for yourself and your life will move mountains in the way of you achieving your dreams.
8 Pillars of Empowerment Series: Day 7 Activation
This episodes Pillar, Activation is one of my favs that I don't always talk about! I explain activation in great detail during this episode to help you understand how BOTH the light and shadow sides get activated on a daily basis! Just existing in the world activates us but when we are acting unconsciously, we experience this as being effected by our external reality. When you do the inner work with the 8 Pillars of Empowerment, you will be able to take your power back and more intentionally activate the various parts of you. When you are present to the magic of activation, you will truly be living THE MOST empowered life!
8 Pillars of Empowerment Series: Day 8 Action
This episodes Pillar, Action is last very much on purpose! Taking action before the 7 other Pillars is an act of trying to manipulate or control what already is. It keeps you in a disempowered and reactive state of being. We as leaders, thrive in a state of creation. We have never been taught the true difference but I know you can feel it when you are acting from survival and scarcity vs abundance and creation. The work of the 8 Pillars of empowerment is meant to have you ABSOLUTELY THRIVING in life so action ONLY after activation will have you in a better energy as you make powerful choices and progress towards your goals. Inspired, aligned, and activated action gives you the secret sauce people are amazed by when you can bring your dreams into your reality with ease, grace, and flow. It is truly your time to shift from dreaming to doing on this last Pillar of Empowerment!
