Ecstatic Dance
Saturday, September 28 from 7-10pm at Byway Brewery
New to Ecstatic Dance?
Ecstatic Dance is a free-form dance session that allows participants to move freely to music and experience a feeling of freedom, flow, and self-expression.
The music is carefully crafted to create a healing journey and practice of authentic self expression.
Ecstatic Dance DJ: nadigirl
Alter ego of chicago-based yoga + breath facilitator, Emily Blackwell, nadigirl aims to weave the energetics of tantra + sacred sexuality through a divine variety of house and it's sub-genres.
Her style toggles between driving house, indie dance, and worldly mixtures influenced by her career as a Yoga teacher and time in the jungles of Costa Rica.
nadigirl's intention is to offer sounds and textures that will inspire you to move your body in explorative, expressive ways. As a novice DJ and future producer, she asks you to drop into this space with a warm, open heart.
Guidelines of ecstatic dance:
The dance floor is a sacred space:
- Be free - dance and move how you want - even if it doesn't look like traditional 'dancing'
- This opportunity is designed to feel free in a nonjudgemental zone.
- Grant fellow dancers privacy. No phones, no cameras, no filming.
- No talking - this is considered a ceremonial event for people to process through dance.
- Be consensual when dancing with others - if it's not a clear yes, it's a no.
This event is held in a space where the dance floor is in a private room and socializing is available on the brewery patio where there will be a complimentary appetizer buffet.
Ticket includes food buffet and one free drink ticket.
